After a successful season in the Italian capital, Roma and England forward Tammy Abraham has stated that he is “in no hurry” to return to the Premier League.

Last season, Abraham scored 27 goals in 53 games for Roma, helping the team win the Europa Conference League for the first time since 1961.

The 24-year-old was the club’s leading scorer and soon became a fan favorite in the Italian city.

Abraham said that coming here was the best decision of his life. There is no rush to return to the Premier League. I’d like to score one more goal than I did last season.’

‘I’m hoping to break my personal goal-scoring record.’ However, I must proceed with caution because I am not yet completely prepared. On the other hand, at this point in pre-season, no one is.’

The England international made 82 appearances for Chelsea and was briefly first choice under Frank Lampard before struggling for first team football when the club spent huge money on Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, and Romelu Lukaku.

He played 32 times in his final season at Chelsea, in 2020-21, and finished as the club’s joint-top scorer with 12 goals, alongside Timo Werner, before joining Roma for £34 million.

Former Juventus striker Paulo Dybala joined Abraham at Roma earlier this month in a deal for roughly £5 million per year.

The Argentine star has a release clause of just £17 million, so it’s unclear how long he’ll stay.

When asked if Dybala’s arrival will have an impact on Abraham’s status at the club, the former Chelsea player replied, ‘There can be two kings in Rome.’ I consider it a joy to have such a quality player join our team.’ It means a lot to the fans, who welcomed me with open arms. The message seems plain to me: the club is working on a fantastic technical project, and the results are visible to all.’

Abraham also discussed his expectations for the upcoming season. ‘The goal for next season is to return to the Champions League,’ he stated.

‘It would be a lie for me to say I don’t want to win the Scudetto.’ We all want to win, but we must first prove our worth on the field. We have a fantastic team, a fantastic club, and a fantastic coach. The only limit is the sky.’
