Only three days are left before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). Teams are still making significant changes to enter in the tournament with their perfect 11s.

Lucknow Super Giants has decided to advance with Australia’s fast bowler Andrew Tye replacing England’s fast bowler Mark Wood. This year, Mark Wood will not be seen playing because he sustained an injury which also excluded him from England tour of West Indies.

35-year-old Andrew Tye was instrumental in making the Perth Scorchers the champions of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22. He took 3 wickets for 15 runs against Sydney Sixers in the final.

Andrew Tye was at number three in the list of highest wicket takers in BBL 2021-22. He took 25 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 16.96 with the best performance taking 5 wickets in a match.

Being an experienced bowler who has a variety of deliveries, he can adapt to any pitch conditions. Andrew Tye was the Purple Cap winner in IPL 2018. Andrew Tye played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) that season, taking 24 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 18.66 and an economy of 8.00. Next to him was Rashid Khan who took 21 wickets in the 2018 season.

While Andrew Tye is the top wicket-taker of IPL 2018, on the one hand, Lucknow Super Giants also have the No. 2 wicket-taker of IPL 2021. Avesh Khan has been bagged by Lucknow because of the impression he left in the last season. Avesh Khan took 24 wickets in 16 matches in IPL 2021 at an average of 18.75 and an economy of 7.37.

Apart from this, Lucknow Super Giants also have well recognized specialist fast bowling options Sri Lanka’s Dushmantha Chameera and Ankit Rajput. Also, the team will be expecting key performances from Jason Holder, Marcus Stoinis and Kyle Meyers who are renowned all-rounders.

It was earlier expected that Mark Wood would join the Lucknow Super Giants after the ongoing West Indies tour of England. But after the first test match against West Indies, Mark Wood sustained an elbow injury and he was away from cricket for the foreseeable future. Lucknow Super Giants will start their campaign in IPL 2022 with a match against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium on March 28.
