Fred is happy to take on duties for PL heavyweights that allow others to thrive around the player.
What did Fred say?
The Red Devils have many match-winning superstars in their roster, but someone has to do the dirty work with them, and the Brazilian player explained why he’s happy to carry a piano to Old Trafford. Fred has at times struggled to justify the £52.5m price tag since joining Manchester United in 2018, but his cost is now recognized.
Fred made 150 appearances for Man Utd and contributed four goals and six assists last season as he was moved further up the field by interim manager Rangnick, but his game is as much about the transplant as it is slyness and he is happy to play a supporting role that allows the likes of Sancho, Fernandes and Ronaldo to flourish.
Speaking on Man Utd’s official website, the Brazilian said about what he will be asked for in Ten Hag’s new mode, that last season he played a little further forward under Ralf Rangnick, it gave him a little more freedom to get into the box to score and help. According to Fred, they will see what Erik ten Hag asks him now, he may want him to play more.
As Fred just said, regardless of the goal scored, he wants to help his teammates. The Brazilian wants to carry the piano on the pitch for them to score and help the team. Fred says that the most important thing is that he achieves their goals to get them as far as possible.
Fred: “better times ahead”
Manchester United posted their lowest PL comeback in 2021-22, collecting just 58 in 38 games, but Erik has been called in to help bring the club into an exciting new era. The Brazil midfielder believes better times are ahead, especially as more exciting youngsters are poised to emerge from the famed academy system.
Fred added about Man Utd’s ambition that he believes the team spirit is getting stronger. They work hard in preseason so they can fly when the league starts, that’s a priority. They’re watching something great here, Fred hopes it works out for the season.
Of course, there is a lot of quality with the young players, they also impressed the head coach. According to Fred, they have been great in practice and in games this pre-season. Fred hopes they can help them, the older players are looking to help them settle into the team. The Brazilian hopes they can do great things with them in the future.
