There have been mixed reactions regarding the Indian squad for the upcoming two-test series against the West Indies. While wishes have been extended to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mukesh Kumar, the two players who could make their debuts in this series, Former players have criticized the selectors for overlooking Sarfaraz Khan again and dropping the Veteran Cheteshwar Pujara.
Only Pujara was dropped from batting unit

Pujara had a poor performance in the World Test Championship final against Australia, where India was defeated by 209 runs. Former India opener and Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar stated that India’s batting failed as a unit and the team should have rested most of their senior players for the West Indies series, but only leaving out Pujara means they have made the batsman a scapegoat.
Former Head Coach is unhappy with the decision
Now, Ex Cricketer and former India Women’s team head coach WV Raman has also said that he is not happy with the way Pujara has been treated. He also finds it strange that India have added four openers to the squad, out of which one will be playing at No. 3, which is vacated by Pujara.
Raman told former India opener Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel, “The problem is that they have picked four potential openers and left out Pujara, which is another point of controversy. Pujara has done a lot for Indian cricket, and he has helped India win both domestically and Internationally on several occasions. He was recently promoted to vice captain, but after India’s WTC failure, he was ousted. This is such a decision that it is not liked by many people, I am personally not in favor of it”.
He should be given a proper send off- Raman

Raman also feels that if Pujara’s test career is really over, he should be given a proper send-off. The Veteran has played 103 tests and scored 7195 runs with an average of 43.60, which includes 20 hundreds and 45 centuries. Raman said, “He deserves fair treatment. If they feel that this is the end of Pujara, he should have been given a proper exit”.
India will begin their tour of the West Indies on July 12 with a test match. The tour includes two test match series, three ODIs and five T20s. Team India will be looking forward to the game and forget their defeat in the WTC final , Rohit Sharma will be leading the team in all three series.
